I candled the eggs tonight. I lost a few so far, but most of those just looked like they were not fertile, so we shall see how the rest go. It doesn't help when I set my mini mag on top of the incubator and it rolls off onto eggs and breaks into them. I am letting them continue since the membrane didn't get broken too.
One thing I must say, this new fan is so QUIET!!! I love it. The others were loud and as they were going out got louder. This one is also not connected directly to the wiring in the incubator, but is plugged directly into the power strip. Had I known that earlier on that that was what I got, I could have had the new ones all hooked up long ago. I thought I just got a bad batch of fans. Sheesh. I know little to nothing about electrical stuff, and when I asked my husband before, I swear he said I needed 110v. Well, I needed 12v to replace them the way they were. The newer ones are all metal too, not cheap plastic like they came with.
I have another batch going into the hatcher this week, in fact, I think tomorrow or Tuesday. I have a couple of Silkies in this one, but I am not sure on the Blues, they have given me eggs, but not much fertility. I am not sure why so I may add some stuff to their water to see if the gives them a boost. Oh, and one hen in there thinks I should let her set on eggs. Ain't happening unless I get a special little nest made for her, but if it will break her, I might let her take care of some eggs for me.
