@minniechickmama I can't remember, but one of the virus vaccines exposed the birds to it, and then any non-vaccinated birds could potentially get it as well. Do you remember if that was one of those two?
I brought the roo to the vet today, ugh. $330 later!!!I was hoping to find out more. So far we have 1) the xrays show his heart is good 2) the rattle is most likely not in his lungs, but deeper- like his voice area 3) he has some form of round worm even after all the wormer the lady gave him, possibly gape worm but he can't say for certain, just some sort of round worm, and he had a lot of negative something in his poo when there should be more positive (I'm getting techy I know) 4) the vet thinks it's more than just worms so he gave him antibiotics as well as wormer![]()
He told me either to treat him, bring him in for necropsy, or cull. I chose treat because he hasn't gotten any worse- he just hasn't gotten any better.
I called the lady I bought him from. She told me there's no way he could have had lice or worms and wants to talk to the vet. When I called her back to tell her the vet would call, she never answered... big surprise. I left a message saying I wanted a refund for just the roo. I think that's more than fair. I'm not holding my breath.
Mareks is the vaccine that once chicks are vaccinated and then those birds introduced to an unvaccinated flock that it can be spread to the unvaccinated birds.
