How Was The Jackson Sale?
New Ulm Had A Nice Mix Of Birds, Not Many Babies, Just Ducks And Geese. Oh, And Pigeons And Doves. Have Not Seen Doves There Very Often.

It was alright. I thought the prices were waay too high for grown animals unless you're buying pets or projects. No baby ducklings

No baby anything really. Tons of variety though. There were some pheasant eggs, quail, pigeons, peafowl, ducks, rabbits, chickens, and that's just the little animals. Most were heritage breeds. All the lion head bunnies were so cute! We left before they moved up to the goats, lama, and alpaca. Would have taken all day. The parrot was awfully tempting! And cheap (for a parrot).

It was the first sale I've been to so it was a good experience. I just can't believe how much money some things went for. Makes me want to sell my chickens and buy store bought meat! (heritage breeds) They didn't even announce what breed they were half the time. When they got to what I wanted the auctioneer called them mixed ducks. Count me out, I want Cayuga ducks and I won't buy them if they're mixed! Ordering ducklings soon with my meat birds...

If you want some nice cayugas, try Lance & Sheila Ewert from Arlington MN..... They show a most of the major shows up here, have a wide variety of waterfowl, and are very reasonable on prices.

Another relatively local guy with some of the best ones is Peter Demsey from Jefferson WI.
