Minorca thread!

Pics
Minorcas are big a need a lot of room, extra large nests and free range or huge yards. Try feeding soaked overnight oats or sprouted oats, high in fiber and protein, also codliver oil or wheat germ oil once a week mixed into the scratch .Some animal protein like canned dog or cat food as a treat, all will help conditioning.Males treading hens can damage feathers, keep the male seperate for a day or two, then return him a day, repeat,it should not hurt fertility and be less wear on hens.

I do feed wheat and black oil sunflower seed soaked in fish oil, sunflower oil, and cod liver oil but I guess the males could use more space. I grow all of my youngsters out in an acre half grass and half dirt surrounded by chainlink but I separate them when it gets closer to show season.

Good posts guys, I appreciate all the information as always!
I was able to take a few pics today and managed to get two good photos of my RC Black Pullet. The more I look at her the more I like her, she is already bigger than her mother and weighs between 7-8 lbs right now.
I promised you I would get you a picture Dan, better late than never haha

that is a nice bird, and i like the spread and angle of the tail. Do you think you will have any Rosecomb minorca chicks or hatching eggs available this year.

FANTASTIC looking bird. She would be in contentions for Champ Mediterranean in my eyes. I really like her body shape and style. LOVE the comb. Nice shape and size. I am so glad that someone else is working with our line of RC Minorcas.

Thanks Brad, I appreciate the kind words. I was surprised she filled out this well. She is twice the bird her mother is in terms of size and type. I really appreciate the start you have given me in the variety. I need your email again so I can get in touch with you in the spring.
Hope you are doing well.

I woudl like a reply as to where your minorca flock originated. My bloodlines are a combination of the Beauford, Moore, and Rademacher bloodlines. Although our primary focus was on the RC Black minorca we are also working steadily on developing a SC Black line. I would like to know how much genetic material we have to work with here in the US. Lets boost Minorcas and let them dominate the show hall and backyard production flocks once more.
