Mint and the rest of the world!

I pull up our mint as well, divide it up and throw it in the animal pens.

My DH doesn't mind it in the yard (grass area) because he likes the way it smells when he mows.

I had mint with my tomatoes last year and everything tasted fine.

I have been trying to get rid of my spearmint for 10 years now. It overtook every spice I had because I just put it in the ground and not in a pot to contain it. Every piece I see I immediately rip out, but it pops up somewhere else. I thought that it was finally gone, but I was wrong. It is actually coming up through a paved driveway now. I still have the chocolate mint, but we planted that in an area that would be fantastic if it grew as vigorous as the spearmint. The goat seems to like it though.

I have heard these type of stories so I planted mine in pots and am on my 2nd year with them. I have lemon, spearmint, and peppermint. I have been using them for mixed drinks but would love to hear other uses for them. I also have two mini bunnies and I feed them a lot of tops from the garden but never thought of feeding them mints. Anybody have any bad results from that?

Hey, I just found out something about Mint. If you had an ant problem, mint supposably repel ants. I have also heard that Basil repels mosquitoes.

Mint sounds almost as bad as wild strawberries. They has taken over my yard. I will never plant mint in the ground, only in a pot on the porch, as I heard that the mint seeds can "jump" out of the pot.

I make mint jelly that's great on lamb or anywhere else. It's a simple recipe--basically stewing the leaves to make a tea and then adding sugar and pectin (lots of sugar!). I'm sure you can find the precise recipe online with a search.

I have mint and have let it take over a flower bed that is flanked by concrete sidewalk and my house. It hasn't "jumped" out of that containment, but I have to say I like it in it's spot. I also made mint jelly a few years ago and loved it. My husband actually really liked it on peanut butter sandwiches.

I love our mint despite its tenacity, nothing like a mint mojito on a hot day
