Oh, artsyrobin! You really captured Miracle's spirit in that painting! I am in awe of your talent and touched by your kind heart. I can't say enough.
(friends - have you looked at artsyrobin's website - most impressive!)
It has been a long time since I had a chance to write. Mena has been ignoring me because she has been picking these red round balls out of the garden. She takes them in the house and does something with them. (buckets and buckets of them) I do remind her most every day by helping her find a feather or two of mine. I put them right in front of her when she is walking around all the places I used to go. Most of them are in the coop. It is my way of making sure she doesn't forget me!
Little Toot is a "teenager" now and getting bigger all the time. Nobody knows yet if Toot is a boy or a girl. Some of the other teenage keets have saying "buck wheat". They are telling everybody that they are girls. Toot is still a little young to know for sure.
Boss, the RIR rooster, has adopted Little Toot and his three siblings. They are so funny to watch. At first the little guineas followed Chicken Chicken around and learned how to eat and forage with her. When she decided the guineas were old enough she weaned them away from her and started following Boss and the other Golden Girls around. Boss likes to find treats for them. The little guineas quickly learned that when Boss clucked he had found something good to eat. They started following Boss around too. The little guineas are so fast that they would grab the treats before the Golden Girls could get them. Now Boss and the four guineas forage together most of the time. The Golden Girls forage on their own because they can't compete with Little Toot's group.
Oh, the guineas call Boss "Uncle Boss" now. He is like their favorite uncle because he is so good to them. Toot is a pied pearl guinea. You can see him just to the right of Boss.
I'm still here on the farm watching everything that goes on. The grown up guineas have laid a new nest of eggs and Little Bit is sitting on it. Toot and his friends like to go in the coop and sit with her. She doesn't get mad at them or peck them. They even run right over her back and she doesn't care. Maybe she likes the company because you know sitting on a nest all day and all night by yourself has got to be the most boring job in the world!
Miracle, I was hoping we'd hear from you again. I think about you often. Mena sent me some of your feathers and they are beautiful. I have been trying to put together a Miracle garden in your honor but weather has not been cooperating. We have set records for rainfall, and now we are having an endless stream of 90 degree weather. I can't seem to water enough to keep plants happy.I wasn't able to find your favorite purple wave petunias, so had to settle for red this year - they are looking pretty sunburned.
I did get a nice rooster windchime- I'm it's the closest I could get to you. I also bought a few shepherd"s hooks of different sizes and hope to find artifacts that would have meaning to you. So far the hosta I planted are doing okay and I think they would be good to play hide and seek with your friends. There are bushes and trees nearby for shade and a chain link fence for roosting. I want things to be nice in case your ever drop in for a visit.
When the weather tempers I hope to get good photos to show you and Menna. I am glad the little guineas have Boss to look up to. Its nice to have friends in high places , low ones too.
So good to hear from you Miracle and to hear how things are going with your guidance! I keep a picture of you in my studio and you continue to inspire me! I tried to have a miracle garden, but the guineas and chickens thought it was thiers for snack time.... keep a close watch on your family Miracle, i know they love you and won't forget you! Nor will we here.
