Miscellaneous Meeps - Hatching my Dreams

I will take a Chonkers EE egg and call them.... Chonky Boo. Or Godzilla the 2nd. Whichever is more fun to say.
Chonky Boo 🤣 that's hilarious! Oddly, there aren't any totally massive chonkers eggs this time. Fizzy has some big ones though, and I have I think 3 SFH eggs that must be from the same hen, they are huge as well! They don't fit in the egg cradles they are perched on top.

When I candle this weekend I'll let you know which egg is little CB and GK the 2nd.

I am all up for getting some eggs to hatch from these babies I picked. That counts right? Just have to find a way to hide peeping babies from my husband 😬😭🤣
Just let me know when 🤣 you have to hurry for some Fizzy eggs though, he's very close to blessing our dinner table with some mean rooster casserole :gig

My mother in law is coming to visit and she has ZERO issues processing a chicken and then will do it all up for some yummy delights too.

@pipdzipdnreadytogo to the rescue of this mystery! Ok, the potential fathers are blue, blue with some sort of partridge something going on, black split to chocolate, then there was some diluted / silver partridge with a lot of red leakage. I really have no clue what else they are hiding genetically. No chance of paint though, I have had him, wait hold the ponies... I have to think now... heading to check my photos to get the date I marched my little terrorizing Chonkers up to the layers coop... ok, I moved him just before Christmas and didn't get my first eggs until mid-January. Not likely to be from him? He's a paint with a chocolate gene but is expressing black for some reason. Nope, can't be him he got booted early December for bad behavior 🤣

And, I know the chocolate hen I have is truly chocolate because she is from a chocolate rooster with no chocolate hens in the pen, so the only way to be chocolate was for her to be a female.

Here is the blue

blue / partridge something or other, he was hatched with brownish down and chipmunk stripes

silver / partridge who knows what? Lol. He was born silver and had faint chipmunk stripes

And the black split to chocolate of course just is solid black.

Oof, I hate to disappoint after that first line... but I'm puzzled. 🤔 I think the little one needs to grow and feather out more before I can give you any solid answers on what's up there.

GN is the Golden Necked D'uccles! I would love to have maybe 2 pullets to be so cute hanging out with my Ameraucana bantams, we'll see if anyone develops.

Oh, duh! I don't know why I couldn't think of that at all! Me at myself right now >

Puzzlers are fun! It gives me a reason to have to keep it 🤣 these mysteries are entertaining, but I'm also excited to have some "thou shalt only be blue or splash" chicks in the pipeline. I really do want to be a solid contributor to the silkie breed and not just breeding to be breeding. I will likely continue to hatch a few "fun" colors, but I'm planning to transition to the SOP colors (plus chocolate! And now mauve too probably 🤣) later this year.

GN is an odd abbreviation but I wasn't sure what else to use  the breeder hasn't had any develop either yet this year, but previously the eggs only became viable once the weather was fully above 50 deg outside, these seem to be warm weather lovers. The interesting thing is the silkie / GN eggs are developing, so the rooster is doing his job, that's a good sign! We are halfway there!
