Missing chick.. ***NEW update***

I had a hen get stuck between some plywood and a barrel, she never made a peep and I looked for her for two days. I finally found her, but she didn't walk well for a week after that. Her leg didn't work and her foot seemed like it didn't work, and was slighty curled. I lightly massged and manipulated her leg several times a day, which had been bent backwards at an odd angle, it wasn't broken but seemed to be numb. Not being a vet I could only assume it was some kind of nerve damage. It seemed a little painful for her, but I was worried she wouldn't walk if I didn't do it. She did eventually recover but walks with a slight limp. The chick shoes should help your chick if her foot doesn't uncurl. I have used them on several chicks and only one didn't straighten out. I would give her a little time to recover on her own, but then go for the shoe if not. Good luck!!

Glad you found her! Her foot might be sore from being cramped for so long. She may come around. I had a bantam hen get some string wrapped around her leg quite tightly. I cut it off and separated her to recover because she couldn't walk on it. It took about a week, but she recovered and walked fine after that. Your baby may just need some time to heal. Hope it's quick!

I had a little chick thats foot curled under and had spraddle leg. I used a small bandaid and placed her little foot flat on the sticky part and then flipped the bandaid over the top of the foot. I kept it that way for I think three days. She's fine now. Good Luck with your little one.

She's still not really walking on that leg. The foot is still curled, just like Natty K described. She's been getting from one end of the brooder box to the other pretty quick now though. She still comes right to me every time I check on them so that she can get her head scratches. I am still hoping it will work out on it's own, but if it is still curled on Sunday, I will probably make her a little boot.

New Update!!! This morning her foot was still curled. No visible improvement. When I checked on her at lunch... she's walking on it! It's not curled anymore. When she was standing still, she still held it up, BUT she was walking on it! By dinner, she was standing on it as well as walking. I didnt notice a limp, but I was just so thrilled to see that foot uncurled I didn't really pay attention.
