We counted at least 10 times. When we received our order, we had 26 meat birds and 17 silkies. We had two silkies die and all the meat birds were living. A friend took 7 silkies with her and that left us with 36 birds. We weighed 36 birds on Sunday and last night, lost a silkie on Monday so that took us down to 35 (friend lost one of the 7 silkies the same day). Last night, we have 34 live birds, with only 25 meat birds now. My friend only took the 7 silkies that looked the smallest/weakest so they wouldn't be competing with the rest for food. There is no way we are off on our numbers either. We put them in a "counting/holding box" so we aren't missing one or re-counting the same chick (the little buggers move fast!).
