Missing chickens

My pens are 6 feet tall as well, I put a wire roof on as I have had several lighter chickens that fly right to the top. plus coons and opossums climb right over and get them. otherwise a camera is a good Idea. If they are disappearing at night, they aren't flying out. something is getting them.

People definitely steal chickens, especially if you can see your chickens from a public road. If I were you I’d put locks with keys or a number lock on all openings to the run/coop and set up a trail cam immediately. They’re not too expensive and it’s a useful thing to have around.
Some chickens are escape artists, but to have multiple vanish without a trace sounds like someone’s grabbing yours.
Never thought people actually stole chickens especially since im from the city. Its pretty sad people dont have better things to do in their life. Thanks for the suggestions im going to try to buy a lock asap.

I would cover the run but luckily i dont deal with any predators thats why i leave it open.

Coons, possums, fox, skunks and coyotes are all very adapted to living in cities. Just because you don’t see them doesn’t mean they aren’t lurking around.
I have never seen none of those predators or heard about them being around here in the 10 years ive been living here. I live in Phoenix and rarely see hawks im 99% sure it wasnt a predator.

I get the impression it’s actually more common in the city. I’ve heard of people grabbing chickens to add to their own backyard flock, to sell, or even to eat. :/ Who knows what goes through a lowlife’s head.
IMHO, a predator would be very lucky to leave no trace of feathers or a scuffle once, but three times is too much. You probably do have some kind of predator that you aren’t aware of but I doubt that’s what took them.

I had a couple eadyer eggers stolen...had a camera
But dont give up hope...walk around shaking the treat bag and calling for her...then get a camera
So i just walked to the coop to check on my other girls and my barred rock is back i checked every single inch of the coop and the coop is closed and shes back? Im really confused hows she back
According to some of these people, they have actually seen coyotes in the city of Phoenix. Some people mistake them for skinny dogs.
