Missing Feathers...Solution?

Hello,

My girls pecked each others bums off this past winter. They keep pecking off new feather growth. I was planning on getting the bluekote stuff but I figured if there is a household product I can put on it would be less expensive. The bluekote I heard tastes bad and that's why the girls would stop pecking with that on. Is there a common household product I can use instead?

Not that I'm aware of. The better approach would be to stop the feather eating.

Free ranging, layer mix, oyster shells, and electrolytes in their water.

Try increasing the protein or making sure they have layer feed available all waking hours. No treats unless they're meat or fish scraps.

They have layer mix 24/7. What are ways I can increase the protein amounts?
