Missing Feathers

Abyone have an idea as to what’s going on with this hen? She’s not setting or anything. I don’t see them pecking either but not to say that they are not.

have you checked for mites or lice?

Yes mites will do that. I check my hens every month or so for mites just to be safe .

No bugs that I can see. It looks like shes chafing. The feathers where her leg rubs her but/belly are gone as well but I can see feathers starting to come in. Her feathers look like they are starting to come in. She has a lil scab the size of a dime that looks like it’s healing well. Also, there looks like hairs coming out from the bald spot. Hmm.

She’s the only hen that has it. All the others are fine in the hen house.

Mites are REALLY small and can be hard to see. If you see tiny black spots moving on your hen or on your hands she has mites.

Some mites are also red

Some mites also hide in the coop and only come out at night to feed on the birds. Checking at night after they've gone to roost with a flashlight is when you will spot those.
