Well it turns out Buckwheat did not just go missing last week. Last night dog was barking letting me know something is outside. Most often It is a deer or a rabbit. So when we went out to check there lays our old hen Chocolate taking her last breath. There was no sign when Buckwheat went missing but there were feathers all over the place and when I checked out Chocolate she was bleeding from the neck and had animal slobber on her neck as well. I knew it was one of three critters, coyote, Fox, or bobcat. Since it dragged her out of the hen house it was either fox or bobcat. Entrance too small for coyote. I was guessing bobcat. After watching a video someone posted here of a bobcat coming back again and again the same night, I decided to get everyone back to bed ( dog and wife ) turn the outside lights off and found a dark spot on the porch to wait and see if what ever it was would come back. I left the hen laying there as bait could barely see with the solar garden lights but just enough to make the hen out on the ground 30 yards away. After a couple of hours 1am or so I thought I saw something but was not sure, so I just sat still and took the saftey off my Mossberg and a minute later it came in for the hen. Could not tell at this point what sort of critter it was but it grabbed the hen and I took it out! Came in like a ghost and left like a ghost. It's up in puttycat heaven now. #%@*# Bobcat. Pretty sure it took Buckwheat too.
