My hen went missing around 2 months ago. I thought she had started living in the woods, or maybe was dead. She is a black austalorp. Well, yesterday i walked outside.. and she was back.. with 4 babies! there was one baby who was in a egg, but couldnt get out. The egg had shrinkwrapped to the baby, so after 30 minutes of carefully peeling, i was able to get it out and put it under mama. say hi to binky and her 5 wonderful babies! she is being very sweet with me. lets me pick her up, pet her, grab her babies, pet her babies exc. i think it means she loves me . :) i put her in a play pen outside for now, so her babies cant get lost but she can feel the grass and scratch around.

I love these stories about missing hens returning with chicks in tow. Great job getting #5 out of the shell. I'm curious however, about how you found the shrink-wrapped chick. Did you find the hidden nest, or did she have the egg tucked under her wing or something.
