Missing the head only

The only time I lost to a predator was a fox. She only took the head andvwe caught her and relocated her the next day. Chicken stuck its head out of the cage to investigate. We have since made the cage siding with smallet holes.

I am going to vote not enough evidence to indict anyone. Plug whole and look into putting out a game camera.
I agree with putting out a game camera if you have one. Most likely whatever it was it will be back since it made a kill. I have several cameras around on my property and mostly at night I see a lot of predators roaming around.

I lost some birds not long ago and my coops and pens are well secured but something got one of the gates opened on one of the pens. Now I have the gates wired shut on that pen but something tried the following night, but since I had wired the gate shut, it couldn't open it. Sadly it was on the foggy side when the predator got the gate open so I didn't get it on camera.

Raccoons will stick their oaw through the smallest of holes, grab the burd and bite by bite eat it through the wire. I just had one do this to my quail, even though the wire in the chicken house is much bigger of holes. But everything wants to eat those poor quail.
We have also had skunks bite the heads off of stuff around here.

Well, my other missing bird turned up. Not sure where she was hiding, as they were in lock down. So it was only one. Set the trap but nothing. Snow covering the hole, nothing digging in that.

Just have to keep setting the trap, I know they will be back, especially now as the weather is suppose to be nicer.
