! This is my first time incubating. I have 10 eggs in the incubator...well, now 9 more to hatch.

Two others have pipped and she is bumping into everyone! She is chirping like crazy between little rests. Oh my goodness, she is SO cute!

Cali Chick, I am so glad to see that the dry hatch is working for you too. There were so many opinions about what the humidity should be for days 1 - 18 and then after I decided on the dry hatch I found a thread that bantam eggs needed more humidity. I am going to call all your babies "she" and send girl thoughts your way.

Sherri T, you have a beautiful flock and I love the baby ducks. There is a picture of a roo towards the end and he is standing in front of a bucket and he is the only chicken in the picture. What kind of chicken is that? I really liked his feathering and colors.

Is the one on my profile pic the one you are talking about. He is a beautiful blue cochin we hatched from eggs we got on egg bid. From a gentleman in Florida.
This was the flock I had when I lived in Washington. I decided I had to make the move to Arizona and had to re-home the flock and goats. Darn near killed me to do it.

The second egg that pipped looks like it is beginning to zip. There are two cracked areas -where there was just one little cracked bump. Once I saw the shell lift up a little.

The chick is laying by the egg chirping and cheering it on.

It will be nice for the first chick to have at least one buddy to cuddle with tonight. I remember when I had my four silkies they always huddled on the floor together even as adult chickens. Yeah! Have I mentioned this is so cool?

Sherrie, I didn't see that was your profile pic. Yes, that's the one. He is beautiful. I have been wanting some banty cochin eggs that someone on here is selling and that just makes it that much more irresistable to me. I can only imagine how hard that was to find all your animals new homes.....they are wonderful.
Cali Chick, go, babies, go. My one egg that had a pip in it earlier today has taken off to zipping. I guess it was just taking a nap for a while, but the rest has done it well. A few other eggs are starting to wiggle pretty good. I'm okay if they don't all hatch out, but please let there be at least one other baby for this one to grow up with. Our one momma had only one fertile egg and it hatched and through a series of events I bought three babies and put with her and now momma doesn't want to be a momma anymore as of yesterday so at least Peppie has some others to play with.
I have been singing happy birthday to the top of the incubator and peeping to the babies, hoping to encourage them. I am determined to stay up and see my first ever baby chick born, even if I have to take a looooong nap tomorrow.

Our 2nd baby just hatched!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a video of it too, which I'll post on FB. I didn't take a picture yet because I feel bad that we've had the flashlight shining on them for half an hour or so. I will take one in a little while before I go to bed.

This 2nd chick has a little yoke (?) or membrane (?) hanging from it's vent. It's laying on it's back just resting and already seems to be absorbing more of the stuff, fortunately.
The first chick is getting fluffier...I think she's a blue silkie as her feathers are shades of grey and black. I love her spikey hair already. This is so fun!

WHOLEWHEATCHICKEN, I've actually caught myself singing lollibies to the eggs.

My son heard me and ran in asking "who" I was talking to? And, I've been peeping to mine too. The first one stops and listens and looks at us when we talk to her. So, I think it's OK to talk to them.

Talking to you makes me so excited. I'm glad I found your thread. Since I have never done this before I didn't know it would be a zillion times better to talk to other people who were hatching at the same time. I'm glad your silkie baby is beautiful. We have one rooster and seven girls and I love, love, love them. I go outside and watch them forever just to see their big fluffy bottoms walking around. They are so friendly. When I go outside, they come running so fast to see me (or see if I have food, I'm not sure which). And then to see them huddled together in the barn is adorable. I could have about a million of them and still be happy. Our little Peppie that was born last month is so fluffy he is kind of ugly in a cute way. He reminds me of Big Foot! And he's fat and warm every time I pick him up. Ooops, guess I shouldn't call "her" him - positive thinking. When I go into their little pen we made in the basement in my laundry room, him and Snowy, a little white silkie chick I bought, just look up at me with their heads turned to the side and they are so curious. Okay, yeah, I'm hooked on them.
I'm glad you're having a good start to your hatch.
