Mission Control...we have LIFTOFF!!! Ooops, I mean LOCKDOWN!

Unless you personally know him PLEASE don't have him meet you at your house.
Thank you, WWC, for the information and web site. I will definately read that asap! Guess what?!?!...I'm getting at least 6 B/B/S silkie eggs on Wednesday from a local breeder. He is even bringing them to me so I don't have to drive an hour to his place.

I spent a lot of time at a breeder's house yesterday getting an education in what to look for in silkies. There is so much to them and I don't always understand what people are saying. I now understand what they mean by good spacing. If you want to send me pictures of their feet, maybe I can tell you something about them. But I am in no way trying to say I am a know-it-all. I think we are both on the same track trying to figure this silkie thing out. I can send you some pictures of what they are saying by good toe spacing too, because she did have some that weren't all that great and showed those to me. And I can send you some pictures of the color of comb, if you want. My e-mail address is [email protected]. The breeder I met had parent stock from Catdance Silkies, Bobbi Porto's, I know from her Web page she's had Vanessa's from here (Vanessasbuffsnsilkies) and I'm not sure who else. It was all top of the line things that I have been drooling over and to see these birds in person was an incredible experience. And if you have a question about showing or silkies, let me know. It's possible I asked her and might have gained the information. Oh, and the thing I really liked about this person was she was middle of the road, not too laid back in the way she raised/showed and not too strict and rigid. Her philosophy was if you're not having any fun doing it, then something isn't right. It's supposed to be fun. She also had a lot of experience with show dogs and I'm not sure about horses. So she was someone who liked that competition of having good quality and competing.

Here are the latest pictures of my 4 silkies. Only the tiniest is named (BB) since it's difficult to think of a gender neutral names for them. Here are some names I'm considering (if I knew the sex it would be easier): Cloud, Slate, Storm, Silver, ... I usually just go be the leg band color.
Tiny little BB:

Here are the names I thought of for my four chicks:
BB:

Silhoette:

Misty Blue (if girl) Mr. Blue (if roo)

Hazey Daisy (hen) or Hazey Days (roo)

WWC, Thank you! No, I'm not a professional photographer, just OCD about the background-HeHe!

Have any of your babies pipped or hatched yet?

Today is the big day and I need advice. I have four confirmed rockers, but no pips. I didn't really start looking in there until this afternoon so I don't know when they started rocken. Do you think no pip is a bad sign or does it just take awhile? You would think I would remember from the last hatch, but all I can really remember great is the dead chicks at the end.

WWC-They are probably OK...maybe they'll start pipping tonight. With my hatch, I never had any eggs that really rocked or rolled during lockdown (maybe a wobble?). (Sorry I can't help you with that.) The 4 that hatched just pipped and then started zipping much later. At least you know they are alive and kicking.

Most likely they are repositioning themselves, but I'm not sure. I forget, how many eggs do you have in the 'bator this time?
