Good morning, everyone!
Here's a bit of a story to get your day going
I have two coops of chickens; the old layers and the new layers. The old layers have a run and free range everyday. The new layers have neither, so I kicked them outside yesterday to forage.
Well, to do that meant they couldn't get back into their coop without someone opening the barn door. I had a meeting and was out until 10pm last night. So, I had my brother open the barn door so the new layers could go back in their coop. At the same time, the old coop is open for the old layers to return.
I get home, go to check and see that everybody is accounted for. Apparently, the new layers all decided to join the old layers in their coop. They were all jockeying over the best place to roost. There were seven hens vying for a spot on a 2' long roost. Guess they're all buddies now and I now have one larger flock and an empty coop!
