Missouri Poultry Clubs?

My family expects this type of behavior from me... so no shock from them. LOL.

We have 2 dogs, 1 cat and 3 daughter ages 8, 2 and 1.

My neighbors are all in their 70's so they love it that I got the chickens and ducks. I think older people "get it". The whole street is waiting on eggs. My chickens are almost 5 months and still nothin' yet. One of these days I will find an egg!

My children kind of expect things from me also... like deciding to buy chickens! I had a herd of goats at one time. I have a hydroponic garden in my basement, brew beer, make wine....play the accordion....it's a long list of, er, eccentricities? But people in my neighborhood had the same reaction...first they shook their heads and laughed, and then they asked if I would have extra eggs!) Same reaction at work.

Hey, just found the group and I'd love to be involved with a group in the Springfield area. It's a lot to ask for people to drive hours just to visit or meet up for a club meeting. I would like to start pulling people together in the Springfield area. Years ago there was a poultry club here but it evidently fell apart. There is a Missouri Cluckers Yahoo group and there are several people in the Springfield and surrounding area.

Anyone interested in trying to get together at the Fairgrounds this weekend? There is an open poultry show on Saturday. It would be nice to start up another club in the area, close enough we might actually get to meet.

Hi,

I'm from southeast of Springfield, between Ava and Gainesville. Would be interested in meeting some other serious poultry raisers. I know lots of people with backyard hatchery flocks.

... new here, and from SW of Springfield, Aurora / Marionville. I'd love to be included in the SW MO loop...
