The two "nots" cancel each other out, leaving you with just the "did."

Goodness, I made it sound like some kind of math problem.
It still ends with nothin, not sumthin.

Double negatives are perfectly acceptable in certain forms of English, but generally not in Standard English (if such a thing truly exists). And they are used in some other languages like French: Je ne comprends pas.
 
However, you did not see "nothing." Therefore, you saw "something."
... I... think...?
Shoot, the English language is such a pain at times.
Nope, the double negatives canceled out still leaving nothin.
