I had a full grown hen go cripple, then three weeks later, I placed my three month old chicks out in my pen in a pen of their own. One chick out of four became crippled. Someone told me my hay may have mites and this could cripple chickens. The chick was healthy before I placed it on the hay. A few weeks later, I noticed it was hopping on one leg. It just got worse from there. I'm so sad. I am treating it with vaseline and mineral oil, but the crippling is too far gone. It eats and drinks tho and tries to hobble around. I'm just letting it live in a pen by itself. I have treated my entire pen of course with Bayer advanced insect and mite control. My question is this. I'm fixing to go buy new hay. Can I spread out the hay and spray it with this, let it dry, and use it for my chicks and hens? Please help!
