"Mite" need some help here!

So one day when I gathered eggs, I noticed tiny bugs on the eggs, and then my arms, then my shirt and then I had a tiny freak out. So...now I am obviously worried that I have carried mites into my house and paranoid that my dog has them or will get them. Do they really "latch" onto dogs? Or people? I've had nightmares about these stupid bugs!!!

They will take 'test' bites on humans and pets, leaving red itching spots, you need to address treatment and removal of them in your coop and possibly your house ASAP...

I don't think they can live or reproduce off mammal blood tho, they need avian blood.

Although this may be true on reproduction many can live for extended periods of time feeding off other host like humans or household pets...

We just got back from a camping trip in the Missouri Ozarks last week, the chiggers (that prefer reptile and bird host) got the best of us down there while exploring for critters off the beaten trails with my daughters.. I know all too well about the skin crawling :/
