Mites and more mites. . .

This is also available at my TSC.

A lot of discussion on how to treat the mites but you know, mites don't just appear. They are brought in by new additions to the flock that weren't quarantined and treated, wild birds, or rodents. Deal with the source of the mites as well as treating or your flock will just keep getting infested.

There is no "dealing" with the wild birds. My birds half free range, and I live in the woods. Wild birds are prevelant.

I had already picked up the permethin 10% concentrate from TSC and treated the coop and surrounding area.
The chickens got treated today, vaseline on their feet and spritzed under wings, back of the neck and underside with the 10% solution. The dosage chart on the package is next to useless for small amounts and requires both conversion math and a small dosage syringe.

Sorry for the delay internet has been down. Did manage to catch one of the mites the evening after treating the flock. They seem to like crawling on my phones screen? made a quick DIY slide out of clear tape. picture taken with max zoom, cropped, then zoomed again.

Do weekly treatments for 3/4 weeks because premethrin as well as many other insecticides don't kill the mite eggs so retreating is essential. Bonus, no egg withdrawal period. Good luck...
