I think I'll mist the birds on the roost then every weekend for the next month. And try to get my hands on some sulfur dust.

Look in the gardening realm.I'm starting to wonder if sulfur is a restricted item in my state. NY has small truly ridiculous restrictions.
Permethrin dust and spray. If i may ask a rookie question...what products should a newbie keep on hand in defense of these little critters? I’m trying to build my kit for these issues. Thanks!
Thank you @aart always appreciate your information!Look in the gardening realm.
Here's one....check closely the ingredients for 100% pure sulfur.

Permethrin dust and spray.
Check your birds regularly.
My Bug Check notes:
Have you checked them over real well for mites and/or lice?
Google images of lice/mites and their eggs before the inspection so you'll know what you're looking for.
Part the feathers right down to the skin around vent, head/neck and under wings.
Best done well after dark with a strong flashlight/headlight, easier to 'catch' bird and also to check for the mites that live in structure and only come out at night to feed off roosting birds.
Wipe a white paper towel along the underside of roost to look for red smears(smashed well fed mites).
