Good morning!
I separated my broody hen from my other flock 3 weeks ago when I gave her fertilized eggs.
Yesterday I heared chirping under her and later she even showed me 2 of her little ones :love
Of course I couldn't resist and petted momma on her head and told her she is a good mom, removed one of the shells that were near her. When I walked out of the barn I noticed little black dots crawling all over my hands and arms. I bet those are mites!?
My broody hen hatched 2/12 babychicks so far.
How do I treat mommy and the chicks? Can I treat them yet? I was really stunned because I checked her when I separated her and I didn't saw anything...
Thank you for any advice!

Mites live in the coop and usually only come out at night to eat on the chickens.
You should probably treat the coop and nesting box/area with some Permethrin based spray asap.

She is not in the coop right now though... I moved her into my barn. She is in a large dog kennel with a box as nesting box...
