Mites

I noticed the back of my chicken is crawling with mites. Her feathers have been looking dirty, I thought it was just that, dirt. She just took a dirt bath, but the mites are still crawling on her. What are next steps? I'm surprised to see them in the winter. We have a lot of wild birds about, I think that is where they came from.

Are they teeny tiny? Just want to make sure it’s mites, not lice. Either way, I think permethrin is in order. Unfortunately, DE won’t be strong enough to combat an infestation.
