I've been watching my chickens in case there are side effects after spraying them with Malathion (5ml of Malathion with 1L of water) mixture. So far so good. No sign of seizure or any unusual behaviour. . They seem normal to me. Appetite is very good. I will be discarding the eggs just to be safe although there is no indication of egg withdrawal.

I loaded them with extra protein to encourage new feathers. I bought black oil sunflower seeds and dried mealworms. I've grown pumpkin and it's almost ready for them to eat. Yesterday, I bought salmon to bake for tomorrow's dinner.. Any leftover will be treat for them.

When is the best time to spray the chicken with permethrin? Day or night?

I find it easier to grab them off the roost after dark to apply permethrin.
I wear a dim headlight so I can see.

Not totally sure, probably better not to.
Maybe keep if it's kept in a dark cool place.

We found that the diluted permethrin in our plastic sprayer SEEMED to be less effective after two weeks, anyway. I never called the company to discuss it though.

I waste nothing! Have not noticed if mine it less effective when stored properly. I do know that it's less effective when it sits in the sun.

Thank you All!. I'm still waiting for my permethrin from U.S. But at least I have an idea what to do now. Maybe I will just mix half of the 8oz I ordered. And mix the rest if needed.

I'd mix a minimal amount and just make it "fresh" as needed for future treatments. I made maybe half a gallon last time, was more than enough for my coop (10'x6'x8.5' tall). I still have enough concentrate to make at least 8-10 more batches of the same size.
