Mites

I just went to check my chickens after spraying them and some of them I think are shivering. It's a little cold tonight. I wonder if I should use a heater to keep them warm (until their feathers are dry).

Wait, why are the chickens wet? I've never dealt with mites but I'm pretty sure you arent supposed to soak them with the spray. I'm unsure about the heater. A heat lamp is a fire hazard and they're far too big to go under a plate.

I sprayed them with the permethrin solution. My husband helped me sprayed the chicken. He sprayed more than he supposed to because the spray bottle he used (broken) has no mist but triggers. So they are a bit soaked. He went to heat the coop for a bit just to keep them warm. No, he is not leaving the heater in the coop. Amateurs!!! I think it's best that I spray them during the day since it's getting cold here.

If you arent seeing anymore then I wouldnt spray again. Just continue to check them and maybe as a precaution spray in 7 days.

Yes, definitely. Birds do a great job keeping themselves warm except when they're wet under the feathers, and the permethrin will only do the job if you can get it all the way down to skin level.

As aart mentioned, permethrin powder/dust would be optimal for use in colder weather but I know you've had issues getting permethrin in first place.

I was able to order the permethrin dust but it didn't come with the spray. And I doubt if it will arrive in time for the next spray. I was glad that I ordered 2 - 8oz of the Martin's Permethrin 10.

When I use the dust, do I apply on the entire body of he chicken?
