Our hen had poopy butt (or so we thought) so we put her in a bath to soak and wash the poopy off her butt when we realized that it wasn't poop it is some sort of egg sack or mite? They are squishy and almost feel like memory foam. They are stuck on the base of the skin and feather (close to the vent) and will not come off. Does anyone know what it is and how to treat it?

It may be lice eggs at the base of feathers. Look for live lice crawling around on skin under the vent and elsewhere once she is dry. Lice or mites are killed by permethrin garden dust or permethrin spray used once and then again in 10 days to get the hatched lice eggs. Treat the coop as well. There are good pictures of lice and eggs in this link:

Thank you so much!! We did get some poultry dust on her in that area but we will check her again once she dries to inspect for anything crawling. Should we try to cut the areas off? They are right on her skin but we can try to cut off as much as we can get off. Your help is so much appreciated! 🙏🏻
