I have 10 week old chicks that my amazing mama hatched. They have been with her and my other 8 adult chickens. She has been a great moma & my other birds have been great & friendly. They are now out in the coop & freeranging with the rest of the flock. I have both starter food & egg laying food & now mixing it because they eat with the flock. Any suggestions. Am i right, wrong & any suggestions

I would not feed layer mix to anything but active layers.
Your best bet would be to use an All Flock or Flock Raiser type of feed with 18 - 20% protein and have a separate container of calcium (oyster and/or egg shells) on the side for the layers.

Yup! This is what I do. With a rooster, youngsters, and ducks here I prefer to only buy one feed. They do just fine on Flock Raiser.

You can also feed just the Start and Grow 18/20 % Protein with Oyster Shells separately. I feed my hens and pullets older than 10 weeks a Non-Medicated Starter-Grower or a All-Flock/Flock Raiser throughout Adulthood with Oyster Shells separately.

Don't use the layer feed, rather get an all-flock feed. I also feed Flock Raiser, with separate oyster shell, all year to everyone.
Look at mill dates, and choose something that's fresh where you shop, as it might be something different where you live. A good grower feed, or something, as others have mentioned.
