mixed breed lion head? with picture now :)wieghed her:)

Do you think she could breed well with a 2 lb differance, she doesn't have a dewlap yet, so that will add a lb or 1/2lb.

Well if she weighs 8 lbs there is no mini rex there, Rex is your next culprit, btw the term Standard Rex is incorrect, it is just Rex.
if she weighs 8 lbs and the buck 10 she should be fine to be bred to as long as these are going to be meat rabbits and not get back into anyones show line.
the genetics she displays and crossing with another breed will be a nightmare to an unsuspecting breeder.

EDIT" to add
the dewlap does not add extra weight it is just a pouch of fur and skin. If she is Rex cross she isnt supposed to have a dewlap by standards.

These are just meat rabbits, not for pets though a male from her litter will be kept back.

Rex X Lionhead cross is my best guess.
She has the coloring and markings of a rex along with the weight of one and of course the mane of a lionhead

Rex does can have a dewlaps, but it wont add on any weight, its just a flap of skin.

She has beautiful colouring

i raise/breed several breeds of rabbits includeing mini rex and lionheads. she looks to me to be a velvet lion broken castor(pet quality color) or broken red, from rex x lionhead mateing. she has the pattern, size, color and body/facial features and head shape of a rex and the manes from a lion. i don't cross mine but have friends that do if i remember right a lion cross any breed should always through some sort of mane because it is dominant but it is possible to breed two lions and get no mane or duble manes also. people don't out cross them because they r inbred at least none i have ever seen or known of it is to create a new breed, create colors, change the fur ect and if done right linebreeding would improve the breed to better it.

i've never had health probs with any of my lions nor have any of my friends that raise them they have always been one of our best breeds for health.

i'd not breed her to a bigger male it could cause alot of problems for both her and the babies if the babies r to big for her to carry and deliver u run the risk of injury or death to some or all of them. almost all my mini rexs have dew laps i have heard many different things as to why they have them and even my males have them too. from my own opinion i see the girls use them for kindleing to add more fur to nest, i think it shows a sign of a healthier rabbit if they have them, shows maturity and i think it helps to keep them warmer in winter. i know u r wanting to breed for meat rabbits but if it were mine i'd breed her back to a lion to make more velvet lions she would be a great addition to a breeding project. the babies would be beautiful and it would better the manes on the newer generations and fill them in more but it would most likely bring the size down and u don't want that if breeding for meat. she is adorable!!!!

She weighs 8 lbs there is no chance that its a mni rex, perfectly fine to be bred for meat rabbits, bear in mind Rex, was a utility rabbit meat/fur.

She is too big to be a mini rex, but she is the right size to be a standard rex mix.
I breed mini rexes, but have had some rexes and she looks to be a rex cross.

I'm very glad to hear it. The same can't be said in my neck of the woods. A local pet shop, which sell "Mini Dwarfs" and "Holland Dwarf Lop-ears" (oh, puh-leeze!) won't touch Lionheads, they say it's because "they die like flies". Granted, that may be because the only Lionheads they have seen came from know-nothing breeders. I know a lady who found 3 Lionhead babies in a box in a parking lot near another pet shop. All three had major eye infections, she spent $$$$ getting them treated by a vet. Of course, knowing nothing about where these particular rabbits originated, I can't know whether this was because of the rabbits' poor immune systems, or because of the conditions in which they were raised.
