I was searching the site but can't seem to find anyone who has asked this, I have a mixed flock (23 chickens, 3 Pekin ducks, and 2 mallards) my ladies have about 4 weeks before we start laying eggs and it will be time to switch food. Right now they all eat chick start and free range. But I was wondering if I switch to egg laying feed when the time comes, will the ducks be able to have that or should they be on something else? ?

sorry I don't know anything about ducks, but I know there are some here that have both so keep trying even if you have to post again . pretty ducks by the way.

I just looked on the back of a bag of Purina Start & Grow.
It says you can switch Chickens, Ducks and Geese to a Layers feed at 18 weeks.
Turkeys at 30 weeks.
I don't feed a Layers feed anymore. Most are 16% Protein, and my Golden Comets feather pick on 16%.
They do have Layers feed with 18 - 20%. But its hard for me to find it fresh.
So I am feeding my 27 month olds a Non-Medicated Start & Grow with Oyster Shells available separately. The feed is easy for me to find fresh, its 18% Protein and I can get a 25# bag for my flock of 3. I have been feeding this since Memorial day and my egg shells are strong. GC

I have chickens and would switch feed as recommended on the back of the bag. After reading about feeding here, I switched to Flock Raiser for ALL AGES and have a dish on the side with Oyster Shells for the layers. Read that the calcium amount in the Layer feed isn't good for the Roos & Chicks, having different bags for stages made storing a problem.
There's also All Purpose and All Flock, think it's also used for other birds. Saves on confusion & storage. One feed for everyone :thumbsup
