Mixed flock for laying, personal use

Hey there! Have you checked out mypetchicken.com? I think their in CT so pretty close to you. I don’t think they have a minimum order limit. I’ve never ordered from them but have heard good things.

MPC is good as is Meyer Hatchery. I have ordered from Meyer Hatchery a few times now and have always been happy with them. Beautiful, friendly, healthy birds and good layers. I have a lot of different breeds. And they only have a minimum of 3 chicks and you can mix and match breeds. I think during the colder months it goes up to 8 but if you order in spring like you want to the minimum may go back down or you could split the order with somebody. They have a lot of the breeds you want.

my neighbor chicken owner will join me when it is chick order time and we only order the minimum we both want the only problem is sometimes picking out the chicks from the box. some breeds are hard to tell apart. it helps that she likes feather footed adn top knot breeds and i like clean legged single comb breeds.
good luck on your chickens!
welcome to the backyard!

I ordered from MPC. Their minimum order can be Three chicks, during some times of the year, depending on the temperature and where you live. They are in Connecticut, so if the
OP lives in Mass, the min order is probably three, unless it is bitterly cold.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Meyer has a three chick minimum at certain times of the year. Take a look at their website. I think you may find what will work for you there. You can even order now for a spring ship date. I recommend waiting until late April at the earliest to minimize shipping stress due to extreme temperatures in the Northeast.

I think this year is going to be a real winter again. :hit

The past couple have been pretty mild, at least for us.

Oh and Meyer is wonderful! They’re based in Ohio too so pretty close to New England and my chicks arrived next day both times.

I with RainyTN on this one, I have had good luck with breeders in my state and the eggs I have hatched are of good quality. They also normally do not require you to buy ten different birds at ten different times. I wish you the best of luck with your current flock and whatever you obtain for your new additions, some pics and tell us where you got them so others can also get some. oh, and welcome to BYC...
