I am hoping to have just a few bantams in with about 4-6 standards (Barred Rocks and EEs, probably). I know I should let the bantams 'buddy up' and have a hidey hole where the bigger girls can't 'get them' but do they need a separate coop, too? Or is it okay to let them all bunk up together at night?

I have a mixed flock of bantams and standards, you may be surprised who picks on who. I have seen a brahma back down from a bantam cochin. No matter what size the chicken it is good idea to have places to get away. My run and coop have some dividers from when I had 2 separate areas, as I merged the flock, I left some dividers in and I like that it is be maze like so they can segregate if they want to.

And will the bantams lay in the same sized boxes the standards do? Or do they prefer something cozier?

They lay in the same boxes as the standard hens. My bantams will take on my big girls.

Good to know.

The only problem I see with this if you introduce a LF roo of some kind. He can hurt the banties. If it is just hens it will work fine. Gloria Jean
