Hope somebody can help. I have very broody Muscovies and not so broody Pekins, 28 or so days ago I put 2 Pekin eggs in my Muscovy nest. Yesterday she hatched one egg and is still sitting on14 other eggs. The new baby seems fine now but she's not leaving the nest, won't it need water or grain soon? Should I bring it to the nesting area? Leave her alone? Is this possibly a Pekin that hatched early? Her trying not to lay on him is keeping her from sitting tight on the rest of the eggs, will this affect the other eggs? Help! guess this is why we shouldn't mess with mother nature.

You probably should leave it alone. Mom knows best!! She might get agitated and leave the nest. Let mother nature take its course.

Don't Muscovy eggs take longer incubation times? This will not be popular, but personally I would pull any early hatchers and bring them inside. You need to ask @miss lydia, she is the most experienced hatcher and always offers great advice. Lu's she knows the Muscovy breed, I do not.

I think pulling early hatches is a good idea but messing with momma and trying to give the baby feed might upset her!!

When some of my scovy duckling hatch early I just put feed and water close enough that mom doesn't have to leave the nest but ducklings can find the feed and water. Even mom would probably appreciate some nice cool water while sitting. Ducks know how to keep lil ones one warm and continue to sit. I'd not intervene unless absolutely necessary.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I put some feed and water in lids, hope this pic comes through, looks like they are patiently waiting for the rest of the crew to hatch : )

That is precious, at least you don't have to worry about mama not sitting on the rest of the eggs right, looks like duckling has found the perfect spot. Keep us updated on rest when they begin to hatch. Congrats!!
