Mixing 2 breeds together....

    I have 12 golden comets and i want to get 6 buff orpington's, i am going to buy them as fertilsed eggs and hatch them in an incubator....... can i combine all the hens from whatever hatches in with my golden comets..... obiously i will keep the cockeral seperate....... are they good layers aswell....

    You should not have any problems combining hens (or roosters for that matter). Just search for threads here when you get ready to combine pens... you'll want to make sure you do it gradually so you don't have fights.

    Yes, Buff Orpingtons tend to be good layers...

    I have 7different breeds 3 of each and 4 red bantam frizzles all bought together and all living together. the frizzles are the only one with roosters. 10 weeks old and no problems so far.
