I’ve order only 3 day old bantams that will hatch March 2nd. They only come straight run, as per usual. I’m considering riding sexed hens of regular sized breeds in order to hedge my bets that I’ll have some hens (or maybe I’ll need to start a bachelor flock?)...

Is there anything I ought to be wary of if I do this?

I've raised bantams with standard sized chicks with no issues. I know some people don't recommend it but my adult flock is a mix of breeds, all different sizes and at the moment my smallest hen, a bantam Cochin, is at the top of the pecking order and I have some large girls, English Orpingtons, Marans, Wyandotte, etc.

So you are planning to raise them together her starting from chicks? They should grow up together as if they were siblings. Someone else may have better knowledge than me though. I don’t have bantys though I’ve wanted them. My standard large breeds are up to 2 years old.

Thanks, everyone! I had a family emergency that kept me offline for awhile, so I apologize for the late reply, but I do appreciate all of the feedback! Fingers crossed I don’t end up with 3 cockerels!
