mixing domestic and ornimental ducks

Hi, I have a lone bei, and am after a friend for him male or female, I was wondering whether Ornimental ducks are acceptable company for him? I know the ornimentals dont cross breed, but would they see each other as the same 'thing' so to speak??

I suggest another Black (or blue) East Indie. Or perhaps a Mini Appleyard. Then do your ornamentals as a separate project.

The ornamentals pretty much have to be fully confined and I hear that you must limit the number in one pen, as they don't like to share their nesting space.

Of course, you could try it and see how it works. But unless you find people who keep mallard derivatives in with their ornamentals, be prepared to separate them.
