I've completed my coop and am about to build the run. I used 1/2" mesh hardware cloth as predator protection throughout the coop. My plan for the run (6' wide X 12' long x 7' high) is to enclose the entire base up to about 3' from the ground with the same 1/2" mesh hardware cloth, and then use wire fencing for the upper 4', as well as to cover the entire top. I think the mesh size of the fencing I looked at from Tractor Supply was 2" X 4". Would this give me adequate protection, or should I enclose the entire thing with the 1/2" hardware cloth. We live in a rural area about 50 miles outside Atlanta, so the wildlife here is mostly snakes, wood rats, raccoons, possums, armadillos, an occasional fox, and the neighborhood dogs and cats.
