I have a broody hen that was in a separate coop the last 15 days. She hatched 4 chicks almost a week ago. When do I move her back into the flock/main coop? I had to separate her because the other hens were kicking her off her nest and adding eggs and one of hers was broken in the process and she was really stressed. We have raised nesting boxes and no ramp so she’ll be on the floor of the main coop. I also have a barn cat to contend with? Am I now stuck waiting for the chicks to be almost grown or can I mix her back in? Any help is appreciated- first time with a broody hatching eggs!

I had my first broody this spring too. I kept her and the babies in a brooder for a week then moved her into the coop. She’s a top hen so she kicked anyone’s butt that looked at her babies. They were in a large nesting box for a week then she moved them to the roost after that. They are 5 weeks old now.
