Mixing silkie colours, what will i get ..

Another colour question 😊 this just hatched and he could be anything as i dont know what colour parents are and i know its probably too early to tell. Ive not hatched this colour before, do you think this is a gold as he has an orangey tint to some parts of his fluff ?

So even tho my roo is grey, i should class in my mind hes black to fogure out his breeding colour capabilities? Because that would make it easier to presume what he could produce.
So the mini chick you think he could of turned out white? Even tho he was neon? Thinking about it actually ive only hatched 3 neons and they turned out 1 lav 1 splash and the dead one, so is there a chance the dead one could of been a super light blue seeing as ur presuming possibility of blue? All blues ive hatched come out dark almost black when born then very noticably blue when fluffed up.

Yes! I don't think your boys feathers are light enough to be a "Blue Grey" (which I imagine is possible, although not sure I've seen it) so he'd be a "Black" underneath all of the genes that add the pretty silvers and markings : D It's hard to say honestly what that chick could have grown up to be, Lavender, Splash, White, and some blues (and I think some paints as well?) can be pretty light as chicks.

Most Blues are gonna be darker cause thats what most standards want, and while its technically possible that chick could have been a blue, I find it pretty unlikely. It's a little late here and my brains a little mush but if I remember correctly the light coloured chick who passed was from the Grey x White birds, right? I think its more likely that chick was white or perhaps even a paint than it was a very light blue or a splash, I'd expect more of a darker hue to the back.

My Splash cochin Miko (rip) was the "lightest splash I've ever seen". I got her as a chick and he was picture perfect for what you'd assume a splash bird would look like. We even got a white chick in that same batch and she looked totally different. Well for her entire life Miko never had more than 6 coloured feathers on her whole body xD Never bred her though, but she was a lovely bird <3

If/When you breed your Grey & White again I'd love to see what they make :D

Not sure if gonna keep the minatures tbh so far none of the chicks are surviving i dont know if its because they came into first lay late in the year and it was their first eggs and they needed to mature more or if its because roo is a full size and hen is a mini i never actually read on weather this pairing is good .. i just paired what i had together thinking it would be ok, my passion is in regular size also so i will have a regular white and will breed her with the roo next spring and i would love to see what they produce also 😊 thanks for all ur help x
