MJ's little flock

I'm glad I made Sandy's appointment because this morning she's in her pain posture again. When I let the others out, she was still standing on the roost with no inclination to come down for breakfast. If I pick her up, her pain will worsen, so I'll take the travel basket out to her and make the handling as quick as possible.

Please lord let it be fixable. Best of luck. Let us know what they say.

So, she's going to have a five day course of stronger antibiotics. So that's one injection a day for five days, at the vet surgery.

Did they say what they were treating with the antibiotics? It's my specialty, I'm a microbiologist. I'd love to know. What antibiotic are they giving her?

He's not entirely sure: metritis, egg yolk peritonitis, some other things mentioned. In short, a bacterial infection of her reproductive system. The antibiotic is clavulox, amoxycillin and something called clav-somethingorother.

He said permanent egg withholding. So I'm just double checking on that before I gift her eggs from last week to my friends. If those are the last of her eggs for human consumption, I'll be wanting them for myself.

I get the whole residue in the food chain argument, but I'm known to be not allergic to amoxycillin. So maybe I can eat her future eggs even if the official recommendation is permanent withholding.
