MJ's little flock

I can't tell much from your photo on my mobile's little screen, but that looks like the kind of tile surface I had in mind. But otherwise it's quite different fron what I'm imagining. The floor space is a rectangle and I was imagining no shower cubicle at all, just a big wet room with a shower in one corner, the bath along one wall, and a long gutter drain along one wall. A basin somewhere too. Which is not how you'd do it for a family, but it'd very safe for old people. And the house will be lived in by old or middle aged people without children for the next 50-80 years (assuming my beneficiaries age out), so the bathroom will work until it needs replacing.
I'll dig up a picture of my bathroom later. It's not pretty, but it works.

A few weeks ago I decided to share photos instead of stories if I'd managed to take some that could be shared or shared after a little resizing.

It's because I'm running out of chicken stories. The hens are very settled and happy. There's been no work on the funrun. I've already ranted about the sparrows, finches and pigeons. Janet is laying the same as always, 3-4 a week. Peggy is laying 4-5 a week. Mary and Ivy are not laying right now. They're eating well and look healthy, except for Mary who's moulting.

And I'm loving the steady, easy normality. No stress. No worries. Just delightful little hens living well.
You and the hens have earned the routine. You've been through a lot in the last year. Enjoy this time of relative peace and keep the photos coming!

Mama is s stellar little hen. She wasn't even broody when I scooped her up and gave her 5 babies. Within in 15 minutes everyone had a drink and a snack and was tucked snugly under Mama.

Today I was getting ready to get things cleaned up and Mama left me a gift...

Not only is she raising babies for me, she is still laying eggs!!

What a good hen!

Every afternoon I sit in my garden chair for a couple of hours and read while the hens roam around.

Peggy and Janet always check for bugs along the laundry wall.

You might be wondering what Mary and Ivy get up to while their friends are digging.

They hide under the bush!

Eventually Janet will signal that it's time to go further afield and everyone will toddle off together :)

It's nice when the tribe is balanced and everyone pairs of, isn't it. 🥰

Great photos!
