MJ's little flock

I'm relieved. And I'm glad she knows what to do because I'd rather let nature take its course (to the extent possible in a backyard) than intervene.
It is not great fun to lift a chicken off a nest box for 20 straight days I'll tell you that.

I'm worried about her body clock. I don't want her to feel out of whack when she sees herself as having a job to do.

And I'm worried about her eating more than she needs, which'd not be good with her liver.

Nope. 1/26/20.

Maybe she was wet on a below freezing night and I needed to blow dry her? Possibly her and Maleficent breached contain and were running loose in the house.

I really do not remember that.
That's a cold month, so it probably was something to do with keeping her dry and warm.

I do not see how she could eat more than she needs only eating once a day. I think they lose weight when brooding. The idea is that they lose as little as possible.

Well, after her preen, she flew down from there and had another meal before going back to her eggs.

She must've had a drink before I heard her call out and came running.
She's on it. The second feeding is what some hens miss. It's very important; that and the dust bath.:celebrate

Awwww, It's one of the things I loved about broodies. Even if they got off the nest on their own I used to love watching their interactions with the rest of their tribe and seeing who would call for their rooster when they were up and about.
