I keep forgetting that. Sorry.I have no knowledge on the matter MJ. I've never known a broody hen without eggs.
No apologies necessary. Most people take any eggs they find at nest sites. I didn't. I almost always just took what I needed that day so there was always a nest with eggs in it. So the tribes were unusual in this respect and I guess me to.I keep forgetting that. Sorry.

My Uncle is to blame. He would often tell me never to take all the eggs from the free rangers when I found a nest. His view was that hens would keep laying at the same nest site.
It doesn't quite work out that simply ime but it works for a time.

It's been fascinating watching Peggy flourish in this new role. I must find a way to accommodate regular hatches so each hen gets to do it. I'm sure I could give away excess hens to good homes around the neighbourhood.
