Since a little boy I have lived bridges like these. Very cool! The narrow one on the left is rail.
The road part is named after a very brave man called Diver Derrick, who used to dive into the river for a swim. He eventually lost his life on the battlefield but not before saving many, a few times.Since a little boy I have lived bridges like these. Very cool!
Does that stay open? What do you do if the rain blows in from this direction? Here's everyone snugged up for the night, except Peggy who tanked up a little more before turning in.

It has a door and has been a reliable safety zone for the hens for a long time. It even has a fox proof floor. Mostly the rain blows in from the sea which is behind them. Sometimes it blows in from the north, but that's where the woodshed is, so it doesn't get in much and doesn't reach the hens.Does that stay open? Those are really great - I hadn’t noticed the little steps in between. Wonderful! Here's everyone snugged up for the night, except Peggy who tanked up a little more before turning in.

They were Dad's. For a while I used them as saw horses because he left a lot of tree stumps I had to cut up before they'd fit in the fireplace. After a while, I decided to keep the remaining stumps for chicken climbing equipment. So the sawhorses had been folded up in the shed and unused for a long time. Those are really great - I hadn’t noticed the little steps in between. Wonderful!
Did you have/make/buy the saw horses?
The little steps were a bookshelf for years that became a platform for a rainwater tank for years, that was given to me, but I didn't have a use for the platform, so it became a white elephant and in the "likely firewood" pile, to being spotted as a potential step up to the sawhorses. Janet uses it. Everyone else prefers not to.Those are really great - I hadn’t noticed the little steps in between. Wonderful!
