MJ's little flock

The sun's out and it's not too chilly, so while Mary's been getting some fresh air and snacks with her friends...

When she's ready to roost she can use the cat climbing tree. I laid it on its side so its posts are now rails.

The sawdust will make it an easier clean up while providing a little insulation between her and the cold concrete floor.

And everyone needs a comfy nest.

Thank you for caring 🥰 it means a lot to know she was in your thoughts

By the way Bob, Mark says he hasn't seen many chicken hernias, mostly dogs and cats, but as lots of people simply put their hens to sleep, he doesn't have any reliable incidence data.
I find that very interesting. Thanks for sharing that tidbit. I was wondering.

Good morning/evening MJ and everyone 😊😴

The room looks so much better and comfy for Mary :hugs
I was thinking this evening I'd bring Ivy in to keep her company. I think they'd both like that. Once the weather warms up a bit Mary can go back to her normal lifestyle, but it's just too chilly right now to have such a big bald patch.

I wonder how many hens have had this problem (or something similar) but its gone undetected because there are no xrays or surgeries being performed. It's simply not possible to do *everything* a sick chicken needs in our own homes and with our own expertise. We need experts and their technologies.
