MJ's little flock

That is correct. And the other three hens. And Blossom the cat.

Plus the two day trip to Sydney (leaving in 4 hours) and the drilling guy who's unexpectedly taking soil samples right now which were ordered by the engineer who was contracted by the builder.

I don't mind because it's progress on the front verandah rebuild, but the timing.

And of course, work commitments that don't abate because I've got two days of meetings in Sydney.

With everything going on, it's no wonder my "note" on chicken and cat minding extended to three pages.

:gig

Nearly forgot! I'm having a birthday this week. We're going to celebrate it next week.
Phyllis says Happy Birthday in advance partner!

Happy birthday for this week and next week! 🥳

I'd feel more confident if she was eating regular food. I suppose she might be when you're not looking.
I would too. I’m rather annoyed that the Red Hen 17 wasn’t available a while back, so I got a substitute. Then got the 17 again the next time it was available and the little madams all turned their beaks up at it! :he

She’s still coughing and hunching so we’re not out of the woods yet, but I think there’s improvement.

I had a lot of problems with 17. Peggy was cherry picking her favourite grains and it was a contributing factor in her liver fracturing. This might be a great moment to shift them onto a good pellet.

"... she was very passionate about raising chickens – so much so, that she smuggled the eggs of a rare Appenzeller Spitzhauben breed into Britain in a chocolate box."

...

Fair call.

That's Pamela Mitford, perhaps the least-known of the Mitford sisters. I was watching Love in a Cold Climate on the weekend (an adaption of Nancy Mitford's novel) and became interested in this eccentric and fascinating group of sisters. A communist, two fascists, a duchess, a novelist, and a chicken fancier.

Here's Pamela letting her chooks out of the coop.

I had forgotten that clip of Pamela Mitford with her chickens.
I was a huge Nancy Mitford fan and read them all multiple times. A fascinating family indeed.
I went to a sculpture exhibition at Asthall Manor a few years ago ( came across it quite by chance). It was one of the Mitford family homes. It isn’t open to the public but the gardens were open for the sculpture exhibition and I shamelessly pressed my nose up against the windows at every opportunity!
