MJ's little flock

Thanks Bob! :hugs I’m looking forward to having a play with Unity to see if I can create some game animation next, although I will be doing some more work with Blazinga soon.
Thanks Manue! You can play it on your phone; it will just cut out some of the pictures.
So I did ! I really enjoyed it.
I haven't done videogames since the original Fallout and Myst so I am by no means an expert, but I was very keen on choose your own adventure books as a kid so I was in familiar land. I took a very wrong choice first and died quickly. Then I was able to go further, I appreciated not having to go back to the very beginning every time. The atmosphere works great. I loved the music, it felt spooky but very familiar. I’m not sure the pictures show the same on the phone and on a computer; they appeared a bit dark but still visible, and I also liked them a lot. I didn't explore all the possible outcomes, but I felt the timing was good, enough to get a sense of the setting and the character but not so long that you get tired of it (as was the case in choose your adventure books). And I didn't fing any glitch or mistake either in the text or the code. My only observation would be that if you try a longer work of the same type, maybe you would need to have part of texts and music not as haunted - it's difficult to maintain fear permanently. But I think it worked fine for this piece. I’m very impressed 👏.

And for tax a little broody who screams like a banshee.

I’m hoping MJ will let me toot my own horn here, and I will pay some chicken tax.

Most of you know I compose music, well I’m moving into game music and I’ve just created my first simple text-based game. If you don’t mind a bit of supernatural/horror (not that scary), I would be thrilled if you had a moment to play it and let me know what you think (the coding was doing my head in!)

I also participated in my first game jam, where people all around the world get together and make games, and that should be linked to my account now too.

Edit: better on a computer on full-screen than a device.
I took a moment to play - I have never played any game like that so I didn't know what to expect.
I am not sure it is a genre that will draw me in (though I am curious if different choices lead to different endings) but I thought it was very well done and I had a good time playing it.

Thank you for your lovely feedback Manue. Yes, going back to the beginning each time would have been tiresome and people wouldn’t have played all the way through.

Yes, I don’t think the pictures show up properly on a phone. On the computer they are dark, that is deliberate. All the photos have soft edges and varying degrees of transparency against the black background as I didn’t want them to stand out starkly. I wanted them to phase in subtlety out of the darkness.

That’s a good point about a longer story, I will remember to keep it in mind.

Your banshee broody is lovely!

Speaking of broodies, looks like Angel is trying to go broody again.

Thanks RC! For my first game I am happy with it.

Watching that video again reminds me how much Mary loves the pipe feeders. I'd removed both of them for winter because the snails got into them and they needed a thorough cleaning. Months later, I put them back and from the first moment she was in there, munching away. Peggy and Ivy also prefer the pipes to the open tray feeders.

Here's a jigsaw puzzle for your weekends :) 55 pieces this time!

Just in case anyone needs to see the picture here.

Don't forget Manue's tip about the bottom left icon.
I did it 😂! What a victory!

Funny I would have thought the chickens wouldn't like it ! Maybe they enjoy it because once they have their head in they have the whole feeder to themselves?
Do you only leave the pipe feeders ? I’m wondering how many is suitable since they have to take turns eating.

Like @ManueB I was wondering about the pipe feeders - having one all to yourself sounds good - but I think in the Chicken Palace someone would creep up behind you and peck you in the rear to get you to move on!

I did the puzzle as a way of forcing myself to relax while I raced around getting ready to leave. I really like the puzzles and it was a lovely picture. Thank you for making it for us.

Yes, every flock needs more than one feeding option.

In the run, there are two pipe feeders and two open tray feeders (one is in the roost box for midnight snacks).

Out in the garden there are two treadle feeders. There's one spare treadle feeder not in use and a chick feeder.

There are four water stations in the run. One out in the garden.
