I'm also thinking about future vet care. A week is a long time in a chicken's life. When she eventually goes to see Dr Hill for her checkup, I'd like to tell him the closest approximation to her age as possible.

Hopefully he can provide a better guesstimate than us.

Today, the Jacaranda had an ant on it. I'm not sure if it was the same ant as yesterday. Maybe.
...
Today, the Jacaranda had two ants on it. I think they were trying to communicate with me. They waved their anntenae and I said bok in return.
...
Today, there was only one ant on the Jacaranda. It had a leaf in it's mandibles.
...
Today the Jacaranda touched me. Or did I touch it? It's hard to tell. No ants.

I think Jane Goodall would appreciate being compared to a chicken, especially such a pretty and unique one! By all accounts she had a great sense of humour.

Good evening how are the barred hollands and turkeys going?

The BH gave us our first egg yesterday and the turkeys started about a week ago. I'm upset with our Tom as the turkey eggs are infertile. He needs to figure out how to get his job done. I had planned on using a different Tom, but lost him over winter. Everyone is figuring out their new feeders, which is a really good thing.
